The watersheds of Mono and Inyo Counties are in danger of over-appropriation. This puts the area’s fisheries at risk. In an effort to protect the water resources necessary for sustaining healthy populations of wild trout, CalTrout helped form an Integrated Regional Water Management Plan for Inyo and Mono Counties.
The IRWMP’s goal is to balance competing water needs while ensuring healthy wild fish populations. This can be realized by:
- Drafting and winning approval of the Inyo-Mono Integrated Regional Water Management Plan
- Implementing the plan
- Securing Prop 84 funding for priority projects
Key Partners: Numerous including county governments, local non-profits, Sierra Nevada Conservancy, CA Department of Water Resources
