The McCloud Redband Refugium (yet to be formally adopted) is home to the native McCloud River redband trout.
This unique species is threatened by habitat loss and hybridization. Our goals are to protect the genetic integrity, abundance and natural habitat of the native McCloud redband trout. To realize this, we will:
- Restore key habitat and ecological processes
- Reduce incidents of hybridization with domestic rainbow trout
