The Consumnes River, a tributarty of the Mokolumne River, is about 80 miles long. This river is significant because it is the only un-dammed river in the Western Sierra Range.
The Consumnes River has a large variety of fish species. There are brook trout, brown trout, Chinook salmon and steelhead. Currently, there are not large runs of historic salmon on the river because of dams further downstream on the Mokolumne and San Joaquin.
