Megan is the Communications Associate for CalTrout and has been with the organization for 2 years. Megan holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning from the University of California, Davis with a double minor in GIS and Education. She uses her science communication and storytelling skills to share CalTrout’s accomplishments across digital channels and print publications.
Megan is responsible for strategizing campaigns such as the California Top 5 Dams out campaign, creating research posters for conferences such as the State of the Estuary Conference, planning outreach events such as the International Fly Fishing Film Festival tour, manages CalTrout’s social media accounts, and produces the organization’s publications including the Watershed Review, Annual Report, Annual Calendar, and monthly newsletter.
Megan is the recipient of the 2020 Emerging Leader award by River Network. This award recognizes young leaders with exceptional contributions at the intersection of water, equity, and justice, who seeks to transform our understanding of the social context of water, safeguard access to water or rivers, or other achievements. In 2019 while attending the Patagonia Tools for Grassroot Activists Conference, Megan created a climate music video – parodying a popular song to amplify her message of climate action by combining art and advocacy.
When she’s not in the office, you can find her rafting down the river as a white water rafting guide during increasingly hotter summers.
