WHAT WE WILL ACHIEVE IN 2015-16
• Secure necessary funding and pave the way for a region-wide climate change analysis and the development of adaptation strategies.
Mono Basin and Mammoth Creek Agreements
LONG-TERM GOAL
Restore Upper Owens River headwaters and Mono Basin fisheries and supporting habitats. Promote and ensure sustainable use of groundwater and surface water resources for people, fish and angling opportunities.
RECENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS
• Coordinated with parties involved in the 2013 legal settlement (CalTrout, LADWP, Mono Lake Committee and CA DFW) and
the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) to approve
the proposed amended water license for LADWP. Once approved (anticipated to be early summer 2015), terms of the Settlement will be implemented.
WHAT WE WILL ACHIEVE IN 2015-16
• Implement the terms of Settlement Agreement once approved Most notably, implementation of the monitoring and restoration aspects of the Agreement that focus on recovery of the Rush and Lee Vining Creek fisheries.
Upper Owens Watershed Enhancement and Outreach
LONG-TERM GOAL
Restore the ecological health of the Upper Owens watershed and improve local angling opportunities in Mammoth and
Hot Creeks and the Owens River.
RECENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS
• Completed the water quality monitoring project in 2014. • Identified specific restoration opportunities for continued improvement of the Upper Owens watershed.
• Secured funding from Anhauser-Busch Foundation to support work during the 2015-16 year.
WHAT WE WILL ACHIEVE IN 2015-16
• Work closely with the Inyo National Forest to implement three restoration projects along the Mammoth Creek corridor to
be completed by spring 2016: 1) Continue to restore Sherwin Meadow 2) Restore a section of road impacting a reach of Mammoth Creek and 3) Enhance the riparian corridor along Mammoth Creek just downstream of the 395 highway crossing.
