CANDICE MENEGHIN
Santa Clara River Steelhead Coalition Coordinator
Candice brings a multidisciplinary and international perspective to environmental management. She studied and worked on natural resource management and coastal and marine management in the Cape Floral Region of South Africa before relocating to the United States. Candice has worked on restoration, monitoring and evaluation projects related to endangered species for 10 years, more recently, Southern California steelhead (in association with the Resource Conservation District of the Santa Monica Mountains). As the Chair of the Santa Clara River Steelhead Coalition, Candice has successfully implemented several community engagement and outreach events, brought local environmental groups together, and secured more than $815,000 for priority fish passage restoration projects in the watershed.
SANDRA JACOBSON, Ph.D
South Coast Steelhead Coalition Coordinator
Sandra is the South Coast Steelhead Coalition Coordinator working with Coalition participants to recover endangered steelhead and restore their habitat in Southern California. Sandra brings to this conservation effort a background in experimental and applied biology, strategic planning and project management in academics and industrial R&D, most recently in the renewable fuels sector. With a doctorate in genetics and a penchant toward science-based conservation, Sandra worked as project manager on a collaborative large-scale trout population genetic study completed in 2014 to identify native trout populations of coastal steelhead lineage in Southern California. She now works with Coalition partners to preserve and expand these remnant populations.
