I can’t believe it’s summer already. Time is flying by while in quarantine. As the solstice marked the beginning of summer, up north in Mt. Shasta we are feeling the heat. But we’re thankful to have the cool, spring-fed waters of the Pit, McCloud, Fall River, Hat Creek, and the Upper Sacramento to enjoy.
Protecting these cold, clean waters and vibrant fisheries have been integral to our history of Protecting the Best. Since the early days, CalTrout has been using advocacy, legislative influence, and when needed, legal efforts to protect California’s wild fish and rivers for future generations. We continue this effort today, including our recent action to remove Scott Dam, by building relationships with legislators and key legislative staff on statewide conservation and by supporting, opposing, and sponsoring key legislative initiatives. Check out our latest Protect the Best campaign to learn more.
In this month’s newsletter, you’ll also hear the latest news about the CDFG Fishing Regulations Process, a new angler’s journey into flyfishing, and contest reminders including the t-shirt design and photo contest, and more! We hope you’re able to get out safely on the water this summer and enjoy some of California’s best natural places.
