Invasive Species

When unwelcome intruders enter California waterways, natives may be at risk.

Predation
Non-native fish can feed on native species, especially the juveniles.

Competition
Invasives can imperil native fish by crowding them out of the food chain or even eating the creatures that serve as food for the macroinvertabrates that trout feed on.

Parasites and disease
The introduction of new species can bring with it new disease.
