Our Coalitions
Where partners align to move the whole watershed forward.
We lead and participate in many coalitions across the state to align expertise, strengthen advocacy, and tackle watershed challenges that no single organization can solve alone.
California Salmon & Steelhead Coalition
A partnership with Trout Unlimited and The Nature Conservancy working to restore streamflows across California’s North and Central Coast watersheds, benefiting salmon and steelhead habitat while improving water supply reliability for people.
Southern Steelhead Coalition
A collaboration among agency, private, and public partners advancing watershed restoration across more than a dozen high-priority Southern California rivers, from Santa Maria to the Santa Monica Mountains, to rebuild resilient steelhead populations.
South Coast Steelhead Coalition
A CalTrout-led coalition of partners, including Trout Unlimited and local watershed councils, restoring habitat and water management across South Coast watersheds to recover endangered steelhead and native trout.
Restore Malibu Creek
A coalition supporting the removal of Rindge Dam and the restoration of Malibu Creek, reconnecting more than 15 miles of habitat for endangered Southern steelhead while restoring beaches, Tribal cultural resources, and public access.
Floodplain Forward Coalition
A 35-member coalition of landowners, water agencies, and conservation groups reconnecting floodplains across the Sacramento River Basin to benefit fish and wildlife, agriculture, flood protection, and climate resilience.
Hydropower Reform Coalition
A national coalition of more than a dozen conservation groups, including American Rivers, Trout Unlimited, and CalTrout, working to reform how hydropower dams are licensed and operated through the FERC relicensing process, reducing their impact on rivers and fish.
Free the Eel
A coalition advocating for the removal of the Potter Valley Project dams to restore fish passage and recover threatened salmon and steelhead on the Eel River, working alongside Tribes including the Round Valley Indian Tribes and the Wiyot Tribe to advance both river restoration and restorative justice for North Coast communities.
The Sierra Meadows Partnership
A coalition formed to foster expansion of and more effective collaboration among partners currently engaged in meadow conservation to increase the pace, scale and efficacy of meadow restoration and protection in the Sierra for the benefit of people and ecosystems.
