Amanda “Mandy” Twitchel

Many is an avid hiker, camper, overlander, backpacker, paddleboarder, snowboarder, mountaineering (novice), and overall adventurer. She primarily adventures solo and has been doing this for more than 28 years. She's been living in Siskiyou County for over 23 years and loves to explore the area along with
Oregon, Washington, and Nevada. She's originally from Colorado. Her son is her best friend and he's a firefighter.

Her favorite things to do are those listed above, and she also loves gardening, cooking, baking, spending time with her small family and handful of good friends. She also loves the water; all forms of it (ocean, river, lake, snow-covered mountains).

Prior experience includes everything from her most recent position at a private environmental consulting and forestry company. She worked there for four years as a lead GIS specialist which included making maps for the company for all operations and grantwork/grant requirements, and she lead grant administration. She also has a lot of physical labor background including drywall (6 years), laboratory management at the college (6 years), forest service work on botany crews working with inmates, and maintenance work for the California state parks (Castle crags).

She has her master’s degree in environmental science and minored in GIS; she also has a GIS certification. Her bachelor's degree is in environmental studies from Southern Oregon University.
