We’d like to thank those that sent letters and emails to voice opposition to HR 3964. While the bill passed the House yesterday, there was success in limiting democratic defections and 2 Republicans voted no! Compare this to the last time we saw this bill in 2012 when 10 Democrats voted yes. All is not lost…the bill is expected to die a quick death in the Senate.

HR 3964 is a cynical attempt to use the drought to pursue an agenda that is at odds with California’s progress in addressing its natural resource challenges through years of good faith negotiations, compromise, and balance. California is in a better position to address the drought than we’ve ever been before, and this bill would only be a step backward.
