JOB TITLE: Sierra Headwater Project Manager

Position Summary
California Trout is a 45 year-old conservation organization working to ensure California will always have abundant wild fish thriving in healthy waters. CalTrout’s Sierra Headwater’s Program currently has a broad portfolio of projects across numerous watersheds and program categories throughout the region.

The position will primarily focus on all aspects of CalTrout’s Headwater Program, including the native trout recovery, meadow restoration, partnership building, stakeholder outreach and collaboration. Secondary program activities will include forest and water policy as well as other tasks associated with California Trout’s regional and state-wide efforts. This position provides an excellent opportunity to put your skills to work while also providing an opportunity to expand your skills and understanding of critical water, watershed and fisheries issues.
Minimum Qualifications
- MA/MS degree in biology, fisheries, hydrology, natural resource science or related planning or natural resources field.
- 2-5 years’ experience managing various aspects of restoration projects, including grant management, contract and budget management, subcontractor management, timelines and deliverables.
- Experience in leading field crews, planning and coordinating scientific data collection and analysis, and report writing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented organization and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently on day-to-day activities to carry out project tasks.
- Ability to coordinate and participate in focused meetings with a breadth of stakeholders, landowners, agency staff and managers, engineers, and university scientists.
- Proficient with Mac and PC computers, MS Office software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Adobe products; familiarity with ArcGIS; experience with dataloggers and data management (e.g., temperature and streamflow data).
- Knowledge of natural resource and regulatory agencies policies and mandates, public funding programs and proposal writing.
