Congratulations to the Matilija Coalition for receiving “Excellence in Environmental Stewardship” recognition from the Ventura County Board of Supervisors, presented at the County’s 2017 Earth Day awards ceremony.
The Matilija Coalition is an alliance that includes CalTrout, Surfrider Foundation, and Patagonia plus many other community groups, businesses, and individuals, with a mission to restore the Ventura River watershed. Candice Meneghin (far right in photo) is CalTrout’s SoCal Conservation Program Manager. CalTrout supported the development of the Matilija Dam Removal Ecosystem Restoration 65% design and permitting project proposal, which received $3.3M from CDFW Prop 1 funding, announced last December. More recently, we developed the Matilija Dam Removal Ecosystem Restoration Funding Plan, which was just recently uploaded as part of a Ventura County Board of Supervisors package for approval/board resolution in May 2017.
