On Sunday, June 26th CalTrout staff was at the Redwood National Park’s Centennial Celebration hosted on Save the Redwood League’s former mill site (and future Visitor’s Center) property along Prairie Creek. Over 1,500 people attended the celebration which featured a pop-up museum, stories and photos of the site and regional history, wagon and pony rides, a redwood cake contest, inspiring speakers, and ranger-led tours under the redwoods.
Darren Mierau and Mary Burke from CalTrout’s North Coast office attended as restoration and trails project managers at the former mill site and shared in the crowd’s excitement that the former mill site property will become a dynamic location for migrating fish and tourists!
