In early 2019, we released the Top 5 California DAMS OUT Report highlighting five dams that are ripe for removal and that must come out – for the health of the ecosystem and communities around them.
Reconnecting Habitat is one of CalTrout’s key initiatives in its effort to return native fish to resilience. Removing barriers to fish passage and getting obsolete dams out are the key objectives.
Thanks to supporters like you, the impacts to date are:
- 1,494 signatures submitted on our letter urging FERC to proceed forward with the Klamath Dam removal process.
- Leading the process with partners to relicense the Potter Valley Project on Scott Dam.
- One step closer to removing Matilija Dam when the California Department of Fish and Wildlife awarded $13.4 million in funding for the Santa Ana Bridge Replacement.
- Removal of the lower Laguintas Diversion Dam on San Franciscquito Creek, making us optimistic about working with Stanford University to remove Searsville Dam located upstream
- After over a decade of effort, the conceptual design has been drafted clearing the path for full removal of Rindge Dam.
