Central Valley

Jacob has an MS in Ecology specializing in plankton population dynamics and food web production. He currently manages CalTrout’s Fish Food program using Sacramento Valley rice farms as a surrogate floodplain habitat and developing innovative farm water management practices to reconnect floodplain resources with salmon populations using existing flood control infrastructure. Even in his spare time, Jacob lives and breathes fish food – maintaining various cultures of freshwater invertebrates to feed to fish in his aquarium hobby. Jacob also loves to fish for wild trout in backcountry lakes and streams with his dog, Roey.
