Results are in from the first day of the Five Rivers Challenge with Team GreyBarn – Steve McCanne and Alex Gerbec guided by John Fochette , in a comfortable lead. McCanne and Gerbec crushed the McCloud in the morning, catching a total of 303.5 total fish inches. They followed that up with an afternoon on the Upper Sacramento netting 278.5 for a day 1 total of 682″.
The mother and son team of Gina and Sam Kelley, guided by Mike Peters, are in second place with 197 total fish inches from the Fall River and Hat Creek. Full Day 1 standings are below. Pearce Hurley came away with the biggest catch of the day, a 19″ rainbow on the Fall River.
All in all, a successful and fun first day for the teams.
