Matt is an avid steelhead angler and fisheries scientist for CalTrout’s North Coast Region since 2016. A 20 year resident of the area, Matt has both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Fisheries Biology from Humboldt State University. He has explored hundreds of miles of local streams, giving him a “from-the-river” perspective of the issues facing our salmonids. Matt’s primary interest is in monitoring salmonid populations and informing his fellow anglers of their favorite fishes’ plight. You are likely to run into Matt if you spend any time fishing on North Coast rivers.
